2017 Summer Vacation – A Solar Eclipse and a Rainbow

Like most of our Vacations through out of the years there have been anomalies that have happened.  We’ve gone through 2 Hurricanes (Irene/Hermine), an Earthquake and now a Solar Eclipse.

Friends of ours had the “viewers” to watch the eclipse.  He took one picture thru the lens of the viewer.  The result was super exciting!  The other picture was me just pointing my camera at the sky while not looking directly at the sun, lol.  I actually caught something!

Ollie and I were ready for the big event!

The Eclipse was on Monday.  On Wednesday, we had a brief shower that produced a beautiful Rainbow.  I considered these events to be just an added bonus!  What is great is this time it was a major disaster happening, lol.  Yay for Rainbows…and unicorns, of course.

2017 Summer Vacation – The Crest

When I was a child I went to the Jersey Shore with my family.  We had a lot of fun but I always got sunburned.  As an adult, the Shore lost its appeal.  Sunburn kind of turned my taste to the beach sour.

Then I married a woman who LOVES the Shore.  She introduced me to this area of the Jersey Shore called Wildwood Crest.  It was congested like Ocean City or Wildwood.  I loved it right away.  She bought me “magic shoes” for my feet so I could splash around in the waves without freaking out something touched me.

It’s a beautiful place.  It has so much more to offer than just the ocean and beach.

The people are friendly, the nature is exquisite and the town is quiet.

There is also history in this little town.  Some of it incredibly sad.

Some of it part of the building of our Country.

I love this place.  It makes me happy to go here every year.  That is a great thing.

FOS Project: Yesterday’s

While on Vacation we hit Ocean City, NJ’s Yesterday’s for some lunch.  They had FOS on the menu…of course I got it.

I’ve said this before, but when a restaurant has Prime Rib on the menu the French Onion Soup is going to be amazing! (Hamburger is almost always a sure bet that it ground left over prime rib too).

This FOS has moved to the #1 spot in my book.  It was an awesome offering.  Not to salty, very beefy, very oniony and the cheese was a Provolone/Muenster combo giving it a great texture and taste.

The bread wasn’t took large as to soak up all of that tasty broth.  I could have eaten and entire pot of this French Onion Soup.  If you are in Ocean City, NJ stop by Yesterday’s for lunch or dinner.  Their food is most flavorable and delicious!

Trump Is A Joke

Because the President of the USA is a joke of a moron I offer you hugging Otters.

I would share an endless diatribe as to what is wrong with this man but it’s been done to death and the outcome is the same.  He personifies all the bad in our Country in one person.  White Supremacy has no place in this world of many colors.

I will say this though, just once I would like the press to laugh hardily at his ridiculousness while it’s happening.  His staff can’t “fake news” that…perhaps being mocked directly he might realize that his staff blows smoke up his rear and that he does indeed sound stupid.  Just saying!

Sorry…here ends the diatribe….with more otters 🙂

A Movie Under The Stars

Last night I crossed off one of our summer bucket list items, outdoor Movie night.

Our Community hosts free outdoor movies at various locations around town.  Local businesses sponsor these movie nights.  Last night it was hosted at Historical Hope Lodge.  A beautiful location for sure!  We waited for dark to get the movie going and it was really cool with the Mansion sitting in the background.  Popcorn and movie…how can you go wrong.

Dark came quickly now that we are racing toward Autumn.  And the 100+ folks who gathered on the lawn applauded the start and finish of our movie.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is/was a classic.  All though Amy Farrah Fowler messed with our minds stating that regardless of what Indiana Jones did the end would have been the same and he didn’t even need to be there I still loved this picture!  Getting to watch it with my love made it even more fun!
