A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

…and I’m stuck at work.

Why, oh why are the most beautiful days to enjoy the outside the days I must work.  Even getting outside for just an hour at lunchtime will be great but to think about Visiting The Arboretum for a few hours would have been way better 🙂

Last night’s rain cleared out the deep humidity and heat.  I will take it.  Then it’s back to deep summer temps again.  I guess it could be worse.  I could live in Europe where they just can’t get a break 😦

The Girl In The Bubble House

Because of my illness the extreme heat has been holding me hostage in my house.  Granite, not a bad place to be held captive.  I’ve got TV, Computer, Facebook, Angry Birds and the book IT that seems to be taking forever to read even though I’m on page 300, lol.

I’ve spent this time annoying the dogs…like a lot.  Now that the heatwave has snapped and it’s in the high 70’s I got outside.

Today I went to the eye doctor and had my pupils blown up for this picture, lol.    It kind of looks like I’ve had a stroke in this picture.  I assure I haven’t,  I just don’t photograph well 🙂  It’s supposed to rain until tomorrow so hopefully that will further cool things down.  For a bit there I felt like I was living on Mars…it’s hot there too, lol.

I Know It’s Summer But…

It’s been super hot and super humid lately.  We’ve suffered through bad thunderstorms that dropped inches of rain in about 20 minutes.  This is not cool.

Yesterday I left work and it was 100 degrees and 78% humidity.  Um, no thank you.

This is a picture my nephew took of the storm that looks like the one Dorothy got caught in.  Let’s just say lots of thunder, lightning and rain.  Today is only going to be 84 Degrees with 74% humidity.  It doesn’t feel much different.

I’m just glad that Air Conditioning was invented because there is no real relief from this mess until Monday/Tuesday of next week.  Until then…God Bless You Willis Carrier!

Everything Is Blurry

It’s okay that I’ve been suffering with extreme eye strain, right?  I’m not alarmed because I’ve got an eye doctor’s appointment at the end of the month.  It’s been a cross between using the computer and reading small print.  It’s rather annoying.

I’ve taken on reading “IT” by Stephen King this summer.  I hate clowns more than I hate mosquitoes so that should say something about me.  It’s been a really good read but the print is small.  The book’s size is also overwhelming, 1098 pages.  Add it that I’ve been having nightmares from it makes this challenging on another level.  I can’t read it before bed.  Yup, it’s freaking me out that much.

My bedtime reading is Eileen Fulton’s “As My World Still Turns”.  I miss the old guard soaps that used to grace the airwaves.  There are only 4 left on the television anymore and that saddens me 😦

I miss Erica and Jackson from All My Children and Lucinda and Kim and Bob from As The World Turns and of course I miss Reva from Guiding Light.  So I picked this non-scary book to get me through my night time reading.

It’s been filled with anecdotes of Ms. Fulton’s rise to fame on As The World Turns as Lisa, the one time bad girl who became a friend to all.  No nightmares from this story.

IT is really good and I don’t like putting it down.  Not just because my paperback version has Tim Curry as Pennywise on the cover but because it’s a good read.  I also think knowing very little about the story has been good as well.

Everyone knows about Georgie and is floating boat but that’s pretty much the only party of the story I knew about.  I will never see the movies.  I do not like scary movies.  Even though I’ve seen some of them in my day I’m not particularly fond of them.

I looked at the pile of books at my bedside and beside my spot on the sofa and I’m overwhelmed by how many books I need to catch up on.  The pressure sometimes parallelizes me but I’m motoring on with high hopes!

My reading isn’t helping the eye strain blurriness at all.  Again, I motor on.

The summer has been so humid.  You would think I would be read more just to stay inside in the air conditioning, lol.  Oh well, Back to the grind.  Wish me luck!

Trump’s Fourth of July Parade

So the President who dodged the draft over and over wants a military parade to show the world our military prowess.  Why do all of these pathetic men need to show force as though it’s patriotic.  What makes this pPresident particularly stupid is he dodged the draft during the Vietnam war.  He came out publicly and sad he never agreed with the Vietnam war.   Now he wants to show his manciples (my new made up word for his man+disciples).  And now he wants it with more tanks.

This fiasco is going to cost American’s about or more than his golf outings since becoming President.   If you don’t like being compared to Hitler all of the time then STOP acting like Hitler all of the time.  People in cages without due process, hanging out with and praising other despots and attacking the press and anyone one who doesn’t worship you particularly.    These are all ideals held by Hitler for Hitler.  His people blindly worshiped him and looked the other way when he ruined the country and the world.

When will Americans wake up.  Let’s face it he’s a big disappointment.  Seriously though, was the G20 Summit the best day for “Take your daughter to work day”?  She made America look like they thought they were at the Mensa Conference for INBREEDS!

Because of his fragile ego, Trump’s staff had the USS John McCain moved because just the name upset his fragile ego.  How much did that cost American Taxpayers?!?

This parade isn’t about American Patriotism but what Donald Trump wants the world to see.  He wants them to quake in there boots once the behold the spectacle of military glory on Pennsylvania Avenue.  We are living in the age of the Twitter President.  The look at me, look at me, view the world has of the USA.  In the 2020 election,  we need to think less Reality TV show President and more who will do OUR business.  This is OUR Country.  This is BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE America.  It’s time to stand up and say BS to the billionaires who tell you that the rich will share and trickle down their profits to you.  They will NEVER share their wealth, not ever.  They try to screw each other out of their wealth why would you think they would share with you.  Stop believing the lies of the rich.

We don’t need to have a parade of tanks going down Pennsylvania Avenue (that will destroy the road by the way) to make us feel Pride in America.  We need a real leader to look up too.  A leader who we are not ashamed of or embarrassed to represent WE THE PEOPLE.  We need a first family who doesn’t see a profit model in every Executive decision.  It would be nice not to have to pay for grown children to conduct private business on THE PEOPLE’S dime.

Imagine a better America than the one being run by a family of white trash rich people.

Puppies and Nature

So I was taking a walk in the Neighborhood and I came across this enormous mushroom.

I’ve not seen one this big in a long time.  I’m sure it was aided in growing so large by the very humid, rainy and hot environment of the last two weeks.  So of course I had to do this…

What can I say…I’m just and over-aged child.

Weekend Adventures

We went out on Saturday to the Bristol area.  Did some antique shopping and had some lunch.  While at lunch this little dude (behind me) had a meltdown.  Of course, I took a picture of it!  LOL.

I really liked my sandwich.  I ordered it solely for the fact it was called ‘The Godfather’.  It was most delicious!  Afterward, the wife took me to get some Jersey Tomatoes.  Which were also very delicious.  It was a very happy produce store…the wish everyone to have a Nice Day on the way out!  Winning!!!

2017 Summer Vacation – The People of the Beach

Vacations are a time for people to relax.  A time to share each others lives and sometimes it’s a time to just be still.  Here are some of those moments.

I give you The People of the Crest Beach.

I can’t help it…I love it in Wildwood Crest.  I can’t wait until next year to see some of these same faces and maybe some new ones.

Until then…I will be dreaming of seeing this sign as I enter my Happy Place away from home.

2017 Summer Vacation – The People of the Beach – It’s My Job

One of my favorite things about the beach is the people watching.  Some are funny, some make me shake my head and others are just interesting.

These are the people who work the beach.  Ice Cream girl doesn’t get the credit she deserves.  She pushes this cart of tasty treats back and forth across the beach every day.  Hot or drizzling she’s there to furnish us all with tasty treats.  I salute you Ice Cream Girl!

These are the people who rescue us in rip tides.  They save us from cut feet from broken shells and they watch over us while we swim in dolphin infested waters.  It’s not an easy job or one that people appreciate until, well, until you are drowning.  Here is a shout out to all of the Wildwood Crest’s version of Baywatch!  You do it CJ and Mitch Buchananish Lifeguards!

Here is to the guy who never gets and credit at all.  This kid provides your rented equipment so you don’t have to schlep it to the beach.  Umbrellas, Chairs and the like are all provided by this guy.  Also, he collects them all from the beach before his shift is over at 5pm.

You do it Umbrella Patrol guy!  Thanks for the shade!

I jest, but to be honest these folks provide to all the tourist the comforts of the beach.  They provide food, equipment and most importantly…peace of mind knowing they are looking out for us up there on the stand!  Thank you all!
