Oh Halloween…I Miss You Already

The First.  Everything is the First in our new home.  This time it was the first Halloween.

We didn’t get many Trick-or-Treaters but I managed to have a great time.

There he goes our first Trick-or-Treater.  He was a little guy dressed as Batman.  His Dad was enjoying the Trick-or-Treating too.   He was so cute!  Batman, by the way, is the best Halloween Costume ever!

It was pretty cold outside and the moon shone crisp in the evening sky.  In short, it was perfect!  Next on our Holiday Hit Parade is Thanksgiving.  This weekend I will switch out the decorations.  I can’t wait.  To have our own home is beyond thrilling for me.  I’m like a lucky Trick-or-Treater who just got the full size candy bar!

Life is good 🙂

A Movie Under The Stars

Last night I crossed off one of our summer bucket list items, outdoor Movie night.

Our Community hosts free outdoor movies at various locations around town.  Local businesses sponsor these movie nights.  Last night it was hosted at Historical Hope Lodge.  A beautiful location for sure!  We waited for dark to get the movie going and it was really cool with the Mansion sitting in the background.  Popcorn and movie…how can you go wrong.

Dark came quickly now that we are racing toward Autumn.  And the 100+ folks who gathered on the lawn applauded the start and finish of our movie.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is/was a classic.  All though Amy Farrah Fowler messed with our minds stating that regardless of what Indiana Jones did the end would have been the same and he didn’t even need to be there I still loved this picture!  Getting to watch it with my love made it even more fun!

October 1, 2015 = Awesomeness!

Yeah it finally arrived…October 1, 2015.  For me it is the beginning of Halloween season.  I love Autumn and Halloween!  I start off every October by watching Hocus Pocus!

It is my most favorite Halloween Movie of all time and is on my top 10 list of favorite movies of all time.  I loved this movie so much when it came out that I saw it 4x at the theater.  I then planned my next year’s vacation around it.  I went to visit Salem, Massachusetts to walk the walk of the movie sites.  Allison’s house, the neighborhood, The School and park, Town Hall and the Salem Village.  I LOVED IT!  I loved it so much that I went back for the next two October’s to relive the fun.  I also read every book I could find on the Salem Witch Trials.  That was a rather nasty business but the history of it was amazing.

If you ever go to Salem for Halloween/October just remember it is their busiest tourist season.  I had to make my hotel reservations 1 year in advance (this was recommended by the city website for Haunted Happenings).  I stayed in the neighboring town of Danvers and loved it.

What’s my second movie to watch for Halloween Month…Why Nightmare Before Christmas of course!

Happy October Everybody!

Fulfilling A Recent Dream

About 3 years ago I saw it for the first time.  It was giant and pink.  Two of my favorite things.  Last weekend I got to do something I’ve been wanting to do since I first laid eyes on it…

I had my picture taken in front of the Giant Pink Sand bucket building.  And yes…it was totally awesome!

Happy New Year Kiddies!

It’s been a very busy Holiday season.  Some joyous and some not so joyous but I got threw it all.  It’s now 2014 and it feels kind of weird to write 2014.

I decided to go wild just before the Holiday and cut all my hair off.  It’s hair so I thought even if I didn’t like it who cares…it will grow back.  It’s not bad and takes two minutes to do in the morning.  So WIN!

I really want to put myself into enjoying every ounce of life this year.  No regrets and releasing my grasp on control.  Funny thing about Control is it doesn’t really exists.  It’s just an illusion but it feels real.  Mark me down for a fun year!

We had our first snow of 2014.  Approximately 8″ fell on our burg.  It was the light fluffy snow so shoveling wasn’t too bad.  It sure did look pretty before I left for work.

My Willow didn’t want to come inside last night after the snow started.  She has always been a snow baby.  She loves to lay and play in it.  Even at 13 years old she’s still in love with snow 😉

She was a little sad because I made her go inside.  The temps were falling quickly and I told her the snow would be there in the morning, lol.

Here is to a great 2014 for everyone.  This year hold your loved ones closer and go call, text or email that person that you’ve grown apart from and bring them back into your life.  You will be happy you did.

And There Is Hope…

Yesterday the U.S. Supreme Court made two rulings that mark the beginning path that would allow me to legally wed my wife.  It was a good day in America yesterday.  I read some very interesting comments from people linked to the news stories online.

One of the comments was “the majority of people in California voted for Prop 8 and their vote should count.”  What this person doesn’t get is that Court is supposed to protect the minority from the whims of the majority.  One rebuttal to this comment was “what if the majority voted to strip men of the right to vote?  After all,  women out number men in our country.  How would you feel about losing the right to vote?”  This comment made the point I’ve tried to explain to people who do not understand what this decision means to the LGBTQ community.

In the State that I live in I am denied the legal right to marry based only one the factor, that I love a woman and not a man.  I can be fired from my job based only on the fact I am a lesbian.  In my state we are denied any projection under the law afforded to those whose only distinction is being opposite sex.

The argument of Religion isn’t valid in the law or my rights under the law.  That is why we have the ideology of separation of church and state.  If I choose to not marry in a church that is my choice or if the church declines my request to marry in their establishment that is their choice.  Denying me THE RIGHT and as it stands now THE PRIVILEGED to marry through contract supported by the government’s issue of a marriage license flies in the opposition of the true spirit of law.

I have never found myself in the position of having anyone’s marriage affect my life other than that of my parents.  I say to those who would spend hundreds of millions of dollars to suppress my rights based only on personal opinion and not legal fact…please stop.  Your money would better serve your God and your community by being put to feeding the poor, creating a better life for the elderly or disabled not on dictating to others how they should live the life you think you lead.
