2017 Summer Vacation – The People of the Beach

Vacations are a time for people to relax.  A time to share each others lives and sometimes it’s a time to just be still.  Here are some of those moments.

I give you The People of the Crest Beach.

I can’t help it…I love it in Wildwood Crest.  I can’t wait until next year to see some of these same faces and maybe some new ones.

Until then…I will be dreaming of seeing this sign as I enter my Happy Place away from home.

2017 Summer Vacation – The People of the Beach – It’s My Job

One of my favorite things about the beach is the people watching.  Some are funny, some make me shake my head and others are just interesting.

These are the people who work the beach.  Ice Cream girl doesn’t get the credit she deserves.  She pushes this cart of tasty treats back and forth across the beach every day.  Hot or drizzling she’s there to furnish us all with tasty treats.  I salute you Ice Cream Girl!

These are the people who rescue us in rip tides.  They save us from cut feet from broken shells and they watch over us while we swim in dolphin infested waters.  It’s not an easy job or one that people appreciate until, well, until you are drowning.  Here is a shout out to all of the Wildwood Crest’s version of Baywatch!  You do it CJ and Mitch Buchananish Lifeguards!

Here is to the guy who never gets and credit at all.  This kid provides your rented equipment so you don’t have to schlep it to the beach.  Umbrellas, Chairs and the like are all provided by this guy.  Also, he collects them all from the beach before his shift is over at 5pm.

You do it Umbrella Patrol guy!  Thanks for the shade!

I jest, but to be honest these folks provide to all the tourist the comforts of the beach.  They provide food, equipment and most importantly…peace of mind knowing they are looking out for us up there on the stand!  Thank you all!

2017 Summer Vacation – The Crest

When I was a child I went to the Jersey Shore with my family.  We had a lot of fun but I always got sunburned.  As an adult, the Shore lost its appeal.  Sunburn kind of turned my taste to the beach sour.

Then I married a woman who LOVES the Shore.  She introduced me to this area of the Jersey Shore called Wildwood Crest.  It was congested like Ocean City or Wildwood.  I loved it right away.  She bought me “magic shoes” for my feet so I could splash around in the waves without freaking out something touched me.

It’s a beautiful place.  It has so much more to offer than just the ocean and beach.

The people are friendly, the nature is exquisite and the town is quiet.

There is also history in this little town.  Some of it incredibly sad.

Some of it part of the building of our Country.

I love this place.  It makes me happy to go here every year.  That is a great thing.

FOS Project: John & Molly’s

This weekend we were took time to visit Air Victory Museum.  It was fun.  it’s a small Museum in Lumberton, NJ.  Totally worth the visit.

After our visit I used Trip Advisor to find a good place to have lunch.  John and Molly’s was rate #1 for the area.

It didn’t disappoint.  The portions were huge.  The food was good and best of all they had French Onion Soup on the menu.

This FOS was super tasty.  I’m always excited when I see a place has prime rib on the menu because they tend to have the best FOS.  This soup was super awesome!  I was prepared to move it to the #1 FOS I’ve ever had.  I now think it’s tied for # with the Rio Station in Wildwood, NJ.

Check out John & Molly’s for some tasty foods!

Vacation Post # 3 – People of the Beach

The beach offers an amazing time of people watching.  Sometimes they do amazing things.  Sometimes they just are fun to watch and sometimes they make for a great picture.

There was a plane celebration at the Cape May Airport so we got to see lots of vintage planes flying on the beach line.  This WWII Bomber was an amazing sight.

Flags were a big sight this year.  Many folks flew their college favors flags.

Actually she just wanted some carrots.  The high point of my visit was me asking Lightning if he would say Welcome To New Jersey (he was honking and being verbal).  His response was to spit on me, HA HA HA!  Yup, that’s seems like a fair Jersey welcome, lol!  If you get a chance to visit the South Jersey Area stop by Jersey Shore Alpacas!
