Nor’Easter Niko stopped by yesterday. It is extremely cold still and Niko blew most of the snow into one big pile from the gale force winds he was providing. All in all, it could have been far worse and even though I didn’t get a snow day I got out of work early. So Yay me!
Tomorrow starts a small warm up. Come on 47 degrees!!
When faced with these types of natural shut ins I of course stuffed my face and binge watched Netflix. Unlike this poor bloke.
Snow or no snow these guys are always at their posts. This friend is what dedication looks like!
I dug out some space for the dogs to roam around. Neither dog was happy with the snow. It was wet and cold and lets face it…my dogs are princesses.
We dug out on Sunday and headed back to work on Monday. It was a lot like that time I didn’t win the Powerball.
The weather folks had our region in a panic with a “huge” snowstorm that was going to hit us on Sunday/Monday. They called for 10″-14″ of snow and more along the Shore locations.
What we got was about an 1-1/2″ of light puffy snow. The precipitation didn’t start at 6 pm like they predicted on Sunday. It started around 9 pm and began as rain, not snow.
It sleet for a bit and we expected to see 6-8″ of snow when we woke up but what there was on the ground hysterically less. Bean turned on the news and they said don’t worry (who was worrying?) the wraparound band of snow would produce “A HALF OF A FOOT” of snow. You know, ’cause that sounds like more that what it is…6″ of snow.
Guess what happened with the wraparound band of snow? Um…NOTHING. It gave us perhaps an additional dusting and that was it. So all of those schools that put in that they were closed the night before the impending doom wasted a day off. The smart ones waited and aired on the side of caution by calling a 2-hr. delay.
It all didn’t matter to me much since I wasn’t going to work. I was felled by a stomach virus and spent the day feeling like ick.
What a waste of money all those satellite projections, computer calculations and Street View 3000! Want the weather report…ask a farmer or look out the window. You have about the same chance of guessing what’s going to happen as the local weather guy.
So we had a Nor’easter yesterday and it wasn’t fun. It was 13″ of snow followed by Sleet then rain and then another 4″ of snow. Forecast for tomorrow…more snow.
The weather contributed to this 100 car pile up on the PA Turnpike this morning. Not so much fun for these poor folks. I must admit I am a tad bit snow weary. It’s lost its appeal for me lately. You know the saying…Too Much of a Good Thing.
Hang in there weather weary folks we are almost there….ONWARD TO SPRING!!!
First we got snow. Next came the Ice Storm. I can’t wait to see what happens with the pending Nor’Easter this weekend. Let’s go to the pictures 🙂
The commute wasn’t too bad this morning but I wasn’t any less on nerves end until I got to work.
I know that places like Buffalo, Minneapolis and what not get a billion inches of snow every year and that I should just pull my socks up but Ice…I’m not a fan of ice at all. So that is two storms down one more to go for this week, lol.
This La Nina session has proven very snowy indeed for my part of the globe. Yesterday we got an additional 9″ of snow. Driving in snow sucks. Playing in snow doesn’t…just saying.
First we experienced some freezing rain and that is what made all the heavy snow stick to the trees. The result of this was some beautiful winter scenes. I took lots of pictures. This is when I love the snow the most…when I have the time to stop and appreciate its beauty.
The downside is driving in it can be treacherous and with the heavily laden branches we lost some tree branches. Some big some, some small but it still makes walking around dangerous.
On Sunday it was almost spring like with temperatures in the low 50’s which is the polar opposite of what we are getting this week. There is another round of storms rushing our way that prove to be just as dangerous to the travelers around my burg. If you are heading out today or tomorrow be safe and use sound judgement! Good luck and Godspeed!
Two things I didn’t know about until the last minute this week. On Friday someone asked me how I was spending Super Bowl Sunday. I told her I honestly forgot that the Super Bowl was this weekend, lol. Second was the fact we were getting a snow storm of 4-8″ of snow today. It sucks because its a mess to drive in and two I had to go to work. I got stuck twice on the way into work and that was with only a couple of inches.
I like snow and most of the time do not mind driving in it but sometimes…like today…I’m not a big fan 😦
So we got 13.4″ of snow in the latest storm to hit our burg. It was quite inconvenient but unless you are 8 to 12 years old that is bound to be the case. Driving in it on Tuesday was kind of sucktacular but we all made it home eventually and buckled in for an evening of snow, food and trying to get Willow to come inside during the snowstorm. Not easy as it is her favorite time of year. Corgis are built for snow 🙂
It is amazing what a couple of hours does…we went from this…
So I spent the day watching my friend the Squirrel have some fun in the snow.
It was an okay snow day for me. I hope everyone is ready for the next one 😉
…that it isn’t even winter yet 😉 We’ve had at least one snowfall per week over the last several weeks. Technically it’s still Autumn.
It makes things Christmasy for sure but the snow makes me want to go into hibernation, lol.
Autumn ends on Saturday which is funny because it’s supposed to be about 54 degrees. Any who, welcome winter!
