I Like Christmas too, But Seriously?

I went to Lowes Home Improvement Store today and…WTH?  The Christmas Trees are up already.  I get it after Halloween, but not before!!!  It’s only October 6th.  It makes my head hurt.  I’m going to go watch Hocus Pocus to get me back in the Halloween mood 🙂

October 1, 2015 = Awesomeness!

Yeah it finally arrived…October 1, 2015.  For me it is the beginning of Halloween season.  I love Autumn and Halloween!  I start off every October by watching Hocus Pocus!

It is my most favorite Halloween Movie of all time and is on my top 10 list of favorite movies of all time.  I loved this movie so much when it came out that I saw it 4x at the theater.  I then planned my next year’s vacation around it.  I went to visit Salem, Massachusetts to walk the walk of the movie sites.  Allison’s house, the neighborhood, The School and park, Town Hall and the Salem Village.  I LOVED IT!  I loved it so much that I went back for the next two October’s to relive the fun.  I also read every book I could find on the Salem Witch Trials.  That was a rather nasty business but the history of it was amazing.

If you ever go to Salem for Halloween/October just remember it is their busiest tourist season.  I had to make my hotel reservations 1 year in advance (this was recommended by the city website for Haunted Happenings).  I stayed in the neighboring town of Danvers and loved it.

What’s my second movie to watch for Halloween Month…Why Nightmare Before Christmas of course!

Happy October Everybody!

All My Dead People

Yesterday was Halloween.  It is said it is the one day a year that the dead can rise.  In Catholicism, today is All Saint’s Day.  What I’m saying is that between 10/31 and 11/2 it’s all about the dead folks.  So I’m sharing some personal Dead Folks with you all.  Also I love old pictures.

These sexy people are my Great-Grandparents born in the 1850’s. This is a scan of a Tin Picture. Don’t ya love their beach attire?

Looking closely at this picture I noticed that my Mother had the same type of feet as her Grandmother.  Weird.

This is my Grandmother and her sister taken about 1889. Also scanned from a Tin Photo.

These handsome folks are my Great-Great Grandparents. This was taken sometime in the late  1800’s.

This is my Step-Great Grandfather. His name was Mickey and the baby he’s holding…that’s his daughter. He was Tony Randall before it was cool to be Tony Randall.

This Tin picture is of my Grandmother, Somebody I don’t know that kind of looks like Rosie O’Donnell and my Great-Aunt.

This is one of my favorite pictures. It’s my Great-Aunt and some of her friends. I call it the Suffragist Photo. It was taken in the early 20th Century I”m thinking about 1910. They aren’t actually Suffragists but I love their style!

And for my last photo of the no longer living….

I know that these are pictures of people I’m related too but I have no idea who they are.  It’s always bothered me that I have pictures of people I don’t know but that I feel I should know.  The man sitting on the right kind of looks like my Great-Grandfather.  Maybe it’s his brother?  I should have asked him when he came back for Halloween.

Oh well…maybe next year.

Another Autumn Day

I can’t decide if I’ve missed peak season for leaf color.  The People In The Know all say it’s this weekend but I kind of feel it was last weekend.  Either way I wanted to get in some Autumn pictures before the Nor’Easter hits us this weekend.  So I went out yesterday at lunch time and took some pictures.

This woman took the day to paint the forest 🙂 I totally dig that!

Here’s me taking a picture of me and leaves.

The season goes so fast.  Halloween is next week (YEAH) and not long after is Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I feel every year swings around just a little faster.  Yes I know that defies the laws of Physics but I’m talking about feelings not an actual quantitative element like time.  You know…cause that’s how I roll!

An Unrequited Love

I do not like spiders but they seem to love me.   We’ve  had a lot of rain over the last few weeks and with it being October the spiders have been everywhere.  Hey I know they serve a purpose but seriously…they are creepy and I don’t like creepy.

This guy apparently thought he’d have an unauthorized party at my place and invited friends…here’s one of his pals.

Bean was laughing because while she was capturing and releasing these guys I was standing behind a door.  Tough girl I ain’t!

On other horizons…we got to put up our Halloween directions.  It’s very Halloweenie at our house so feel free to be jealous 🙂

Michael Meyers Is Calling…um Do I Have To Take The Call?

So over the last 2 days I’ve heard the song “Mr. Sandman” by the Chordettes like 6 times.  In fact, it is playing on the radio right now while I’m typing.  Yesterday I was watching Halloween II and the movie opens to this song.  Then it made me think of it from the movie Halloween H20 and then I was singing it in the car on the way to work.  Now it’s back again…not unlike the presumed dead (x10ish) Michael Meyers.

Should I be concerned I’m being stalked indirectly by a bad representation of William Shatner who wields a large knife?  Beam Me Up Jamie Lee!

Was That Michael Myers Behind That Tree?

Last night Bean and I went to our friend Wonder Woman’s house for dinner.  The food was yummy and we played a card game and had a ton of laughs.  Let’s face it Wonder Woman is fun.  It was a school night and I still needed to do my homework so we left early.

On the way home we passed by this Golf Course and when I looked out over the fairway it there was this heavy fog that lingered just above the ground.  It was like something out of a Halloween movie.  It was beautiful and I wished I could have just stood in the middle of it all just taking it all in.  The red light turned green and the moment passed.  It was amazing though.  The whole ride home was filled with glimpses of fog dancing here and there.  One point there was a dense fog that stretched over the road in front of me.  I could see the iridescent sign that signaled a sharp curve coming up and I thought of all those horror films of years gone by.  Beyond the sign was a historic cemetery.

So far this has been an amazing Halloween Adventure this month!

Here are some pictures of Autumn that I took.
I can’t wait for this weekend because it’s going to be peak season from the Autumn Leaves in our area.  I’m lucky to live to live in such a beautiful place 🙂

It’s Starting To Look Halloweenie

Could someone please tell my why the weekends fly by?  I’m tired this Monday morning but it’s a good kind of tired.  I got to see lots of people, places and things.  All of which I have to share in pictorial mode.

Lets start with the animal lovers.  In Philly every year they have a controlled deer hunt to cull the herd.  They bring in professional hunters to do this.  Where I live there is a very large park called Fairmount Park.   The deer become so numbered that they become dangerous to travelers on major road ways and if the winter is very bad they are ravaged by starvation and die a heinous death.  This is why the authorities try to control the herds population.  On Saturday, I got to see the hunt protesters out in full force.  And by full force I mean like 8 people.

Okay...it was more like 6 people

Bean and I later went on a Halloweenie adventure with the kids to the ‘witches boot’ maze.  I loved it.  The weather was awesome, the kids were running around like…well kids and it was full autumn moon.  I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect Autumn evening!!!
I’m extremely immature so off course I had to pick the nose of this random skull.  What can I say…the kids find me entertaining, lol.

Cheese and Crusts he's lost his head!

It was an amazing Saturday Night!!!

There Are Scarecrows Among Us

Bean and I went to the Morris Arboretum Scarecrow festival yesterday.  It was a beautiful Autumn day and the Scarecrows were all a fashion.  Some were Scary and others cute and hay like.

This one was my FAVORITE!!

I had a great time checking out the Scarecrows…and they worked too because I didn’t see one crow anywhere…just some people, a cat, some geese and two squirrels.
