Remember Martin Niemöller Words

Martin Niemoller gave us a poem that has been modernized and used a lot since the rise of Reality TV Star turned POTUS Donald Trump.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

This is important because it was true for him and many others during Nazi rule.  America is a far divide from the Fascist state of WWII Nazis, however, it could easily be guided there by the white supremacists advising the President right now.  Steven Bannon and Steve Miller are by their own admissions pro-white and anti-anything not white.  They’ve spoken and written about their predilections so this isn’t something one can just deny.  Although, there are those who believe the Holocaust was just made up.  These people are also believe the Bible is the word of God.  They deny any and all empirical proof and data to the contrary to their belief system.

That brings me to Caitlyn Jenner.  She is the self appointed voice of the Transgender community.  Ms. Jenner supported Mr. Trump during his election.  Touting his attributes of fiscal conservancy.  This week Mr. Trump along with white power man, Jeff Sessions, AG of USA, turned the tied of equality in America with the reversal of Transgender rights.  She offered this little gem for all of the Transgendered children in our country affected by this new wave of hate.

“I have a message for the trans kids of America. You are winning. I know it doesn’t feel that way today or every day, but you _ are _ winning. You are going to keep on winning so much you’re going to get sick of winning. Very soon, we’ll win full freedom nationwide, and it’s going to happen with bipartisan support.”

They are winning with no help from you Ms. Jenner.  You’ve faced very little struggle with your Transition.  People who have faced the odds like Jazz Jennings and faced the mean spirited, backwards minded, pretending-to-be-Christian people.  She has fought many difficult battles and continues to fight for Transgendered Youth in not only our country but the world.

Now that there is a potential of being affected by Mr. Trump and his Cabinet’s Transphobia and Misogyny you have something inspirational to say.  I wish you luck Ms. Jenner on your journey but beware of Mr. Niemoller’s words…they are coming back again.  HATE can’t be disguised.

Kentucky…Grow Up Already! – UPDATED

UPDATE:  Kim Davis is in jail on contempt charges and her clerks are issuing the marriage licenses.

So we all know about Kim Davis and her desire to continue her 15 mins. of fame.  It’s getting really old.  I pity her really.  She think that she has the moral high ground.  That her religious conviction will save her in the end.  Sadly this isn’t really true.

She’s been married 4 times.  Apparently she’s okay with God though because she was “saved” with the fourth try.  How convenient for you to be judged by God on only a portion of your life.  Religion is funny like that.

Here is the reality of Miss Kim’s situation.  If she continues to refuse to do her elected duties (this is why she can’t be fired) then she will face contempt charges.  Someone else will do her work while she sits in jail until she decides to do her elected job.  Then she will have to answer yes to the question on any future job applications…have you ever been arrested or jailed.  Who knows maybe the fine folks of her county will want to be on the wrong side of the law and re-elect her in the future?

Either way Liberty Council will move on to another poor schlub who’s life will be ultimately wrecked because they think they are right and everyone else is wrong.  Kim Davis will be just a footnote in history.  Under her picture will be Anti-Gay Clerk.  She will be the Darth Vader of Kentucky in 10 years.  Good for you Kim Davis.

Gays can marry.  Black and Whites can marry.  Blacks have the right to vote.  And it’s time for people like Kim Davis to realize that Jesus was a Jew and you probably won’t be saved in the end because you are a judgmental hypocrite.  Good luck though.

UPDATE:  The world didn’t end nor did any straight marriages implode because gays could marry legally.  Funny thing that nothing bad happened.

So A Minnesota Law Now Rules The Day In Tennessee?

Yesterday Circuit Court Judge Russell E. Simmons Jr. ruled that a ban on Same-Sex Marriage isn’t unconstitutional.  He bases his decision in part on an obscure case from Minnesota from 1972.

He wants to defend “Traditional Marriage”.   Which version of “Traditional Marriage” is he trying to defend?  How is denying a tax paying citizen the same rights that other tax paying citizens have with no question.    He basically is upholding a discriminatory “Voted by the People in 2006” Amendment to the state constitution.  Amendments to the constitution should never be hurtful to any of its citizens yet this one is designed to single out one demographic of the people.

Judge Simmons had to go back to 1972 and a whole other State to find something to validate his discrimination.  Marriage is right not a privilege.  I just wish once someone would cite how Gay Marriage has harmed Straight Marriage?   Again…if you are so worried about the sanity of Marriage legislate Divorce.

Like all common sense approaches I offer this to the people repulsed by the idea of Gay Marriage…if you are that fearful then just don’t get married to someone who is gay.  Sounds simple enough.  Example…If you are on a diet does everyone have to give up donuts because it makes you uncomfortable?  NO…that would be ridiculous!

My Rant is getting long so I will sum up.  I have never come across anyone harmed by my Legal Marriage.  In fact when I got legally married all I got was a Congratulations.  No one burst into flames, or tears and not one of my friend’s marriages disintegrated at my revelation and yes…God was apparently not ready to struck me down.  So how about we follow the laws of the land and stop using religious ideology as a reason to legislate discrimination.

Hey Judge Simmons…I don’t care if you or anyone else do not like “the gays” or their “lifestyle” (Not sure what that is actually) but do not try to prop yourself up by saying I don’t deserve the same rights as everyone else.  Don’t dig deep to find obscure laws to justify your fear!  It’s discrimination plain and simple.  This issue isn’t complex.  And really in the end GOD will JUDGE all of those who JUDGED others in his name.  Where do these supposed Christians think they will be standing when God Calls…with him?

I’m going to say probably not.

Gay Marriage = Just Marriage

Two weeks ago the State of Pennsylvania’s Courts ruled that the L&G community was indeed allowed to marry.  That the law discriminated against a group of taxpayers based not on legality but “moral” opinion.

PA became the 19th State to allow L&G’ers the right to marry and enjoy all of the protections under the laws of the USA and the State of Pennsylvania.  Our Republican Governor (Who is currently in a campaign for re-election) said he will not fight the decision but is still against Gay Marriage.   I really thought it would have to taken longer for this issue to come up in our State Court.

Since there is no longer “Gay Marriage” it’s just plain old simple Marriage I prepare to marry the same person for the third time.  She would like this to be the last wedding we have, lol.  I completely agree 😉

Goodbye Mr. Phelps

This week Fred Phelps who used the word of God as a weapon of bigotry and hatred died and very few wept.  So very sad that no one will really miss him. That his legacy will only be that of anger, hatred, intolerance and bigotry.  If the news accounts of him being excommunicated by his own church are real, this is even sadder.

Fred Phelps and his “church” chose the darkest parts of the Bible to defend their beliefs.  They were trained in Constitutional law and if you violated their free speech well you would be slapped with a civil suit.  Their free speech was one of hate, bigotry and intolerance.  All the things that Jesus would have spoken out against.  It made me think would Westboro have sued the Lord?  Probably.

As a gay person I don’t wish this man to burn in hell.  Frankly I don’t believe in hell myself but I do know that whatever Mr. Phelps’ next journey will be it might not be what he had hoped. Because like all the self titled “Christians” who promote violence, anger, hatred and ignorance they forgot what Jesus promoted and that was tolerance, love and that the least of you are my brothers.

It interests me greatly that those who claim they know the Lord, those who say they do the Lord’s work are steeped in arrogance.  How do they know that the Lord would preach hate, bigotry and anger?  They represent themselves (not all Christians are thus) as imparting God’s will.  How do they know how to interpret God’s will?  Didn’t God make us all in His likeness?  Why is God’s will only that of the will of Christians if we are all made by God?  I’m sure they all have an explanation for their views.  They always do. Where is the empathy for your fellow travelers?  In the end who was comforting Fred Phelps?  The people who only know hate.  The people who, in the end, may have excommunicated their father, brother and pastor?

You can keep that kind of Christianity.  Good luck to you Mr. Phelps because if there is a Heaven I’m not so sure from what I was taught as a Christian you are getting anywhere near it.

The Queen Rocks it and I Love Squirrels

Okay first…we went from 58 degrees yesterday to in the teens (wind chill) today.  WTH winter…give it up already!

Secondly…Well done your Majesty!  Queen Elizabeth II gave her royal stamp of approval for gays and lesbians to marry in Scotland!  Brits should also be engaging in marital bliss soon as well!  It’s brilliant…Cheers!

Thirdly…I took some more pictures of my Squirrel Minions that live outside my house.

Arizona…Why Are You So Afraid of Gay People?

This is a diatribe to be sure!

The Gov. of Arizona is set to decide on passing legislation into law.  Specifically SB1062.  It is supposed to be about protecting religious freedom.  But having seen an interview with one of their state Senators (who is running for Governor) it isn’t about protecting religious freedom (which is already protected by the Constitution on a federal level).  It is about protecting the “religious” from Homosexuals and their “agenda”.

WHY IS EVERYONE TERRIFIED OF LGBT’s?  Seriously…have we tried to force happy Heterosexuals into getting divorce because of our “agenda”.  Why is equal rights an agenda?  I always go back to the real threat to opposite sex marriage…Divorce.  Where are these religious groups with starting legislation on outlawing divorce? Oh Right…NO WHERE!!! Divorce is against Biblical teachings.  It’s a direct threat to “Traditional Family”.  No apparently only big bad gay and lesbians are a treat to “traditional” marriage.  Yet the only argument I’ve ever heard from that community on the big threat is it is against Religious teachings.   So how again is the marriage of two consenting adults who love each other and happen to be the same sex a threat to anyone?

Also, stop equating pedophilia with homosexuality.  They are completely different.  Just ask any of those crazy old white guys who marry 13 or 14-year-old children?  I’m consistently amazed by the cultures who use Religion as a weapon.  They use it for power over others.  They violate the doctrines of their religions often and openly as it suits their purpose.

The irony to this legislation is if a company or group of people boycott Arizona for its passing SB1062, say like the NFL pulling the Super Bowl in 2015 from Arizona, it would be protected based on the law that was passed.  The law can allow a business person to deny services to a divorced person, an unwed mother or any other person that violates the seller’s religious views.  That’s stupid.

So I will say it again.  No one in the LGBT community is scary.  People who don’t act like everyone else are not possessed by the devil.  They are only different.  Being different isn’t a crime or something that needs to be changed in a person.  If you don’t like different that is just too bad now isn’t it.  You know why….EVERYONE is different.  You can be “like” someone or have similar interests but you will be different from them in one regard or another.  Deal with it and stop hating everyone who isn’t like you.

Here endth my Rant!

The “Freedom of Religion” people in AZ crack me up.  They claim that their religious beliefs are compromised when they do not get to discriminate against people openly without being called out on the fact that they are just bigots hiding behind the Bible.  I present this lovely quote.

“Kellie Fiedorek, an attorney for the Alliance Defending
Freedom, which also helped craft the bill, called SB1062 a
“balancing test” that would protect all religions and sexual
orientations while prohibiting Arizonans from “coercing
someone to violate their sincerely held beliefs.”
“This bill has nothing to do with discrimination. It’s
protecting basic freedoms that belong to everyone,” she
said, explaining that it would protect a gay photographer’s
decision not to work for Westboro Baptist Church, or
Muslims who don’t want to sell “pork sandwiches on a
Saturday.” – Taken from a CNN article about SB1062.

Here is a fact.  The Constitution already states that people can’t be discriminated for their religious beliefs.  Fact, Kellie’s ridiculous analogy of Westboro Baptist Church is moot…Westboro is in Kansas.  Fact, according to SB1062 the Proprietor doesn’t have to sell the pork sandwich on Saturday but if the Proprietor is Christian and the employee Muslim…the Muslim can be fired for not selling the pork sandwich on Saturday even if it is against their religious beliefs because it isn’t against the Christians “sincerely held beliefs”.

Cathi Herrod and her “like minded folks” need to just stop hiding and just admit…their fear is not a justifiable reason for this legislation.  You might not like people who aren’t like you but that doesn’t mean you can eliminate them from your sight instead of do what everyone else in the world must do…TOLERATE them.  I’m guessing Jesus would be for the Tolerance aspect too since he preached it in his Testament.

Anybody who says errands can’t be fun never did them with us 🙂

In other news, Delaware is completely Gay Friendly now and it’s still raining!

And There Is Hope…

Yesterday the U.S. Supreme Court made two rulings that mark the beginning path that would allow me to legally wed my wife.  It was a good day in America yesterday.  I read some very interesting comments from people linked to the news stories online.

One of the comments was “the majority of people in California voted for Prop 8 and their vote should count.”  What this person doesn’t get is that Court is supposed to protect the minority from the whims of the majority.  One rebuttal to this comment was “what if the majority voted to strip men of the right to vote?  After all,  women out number men in our country.  How would you feel about losing the right to vote?”  This comment made the point I’ve tried to explain to people who do not understand what this decision means to the LGBTQ community.

In the State that I live in I am denied the legal right to marry based only one the factor, that I love a woman and not a man.  I can be fired from my job based only on the fact I am a lesbian.  In my state we are denied any projection under the law afforded to those whose only distinction is being opposite sex.

The argument of Religion isn’t valid in the law or my rights under the law.  That is why we have the ideology of separation of church and state.  If I choose to not marry in a church that is my choice or if the church declines my request to marry in their establishment that is their choice.  Denying me THE RIGHT and as it stands now THE PRIVILEGED to marry through contract supported by the government’s issue of a marriage license flies in the opposition of the true spirit of law.

I have never found myself in the position of having anyone’s marriage affect my life other than that of my parents.  I say to those who would spend hundreds of millions of dollars to suppress my rights based only on personal opinion and not legal fact…please stop.  Your money would better serve your God and your community by being put to feeding the poor, creating a better life for the elderly or disabled not on dictating to others how they should live the life you think you lead.
